Marketing Coordinator (Posted 8/1/2023)
DESCRIPTION
Outskirts Theatre Co.’s mission is to create professional opportunities for emerging artists through entertaining thought-provoking theatrical productions. Founded in 2014, OTC produces 3-5 shows per season staged at a variety of venues in the Waukesha and Milwaukee areas.
Outskirts is seeking to fill the role of a Part Time Marketing Coordinator to help us in our marketing and audience development efforts as we celebrate our 10 Year Anniversary and head into the next decade.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with Co-Artistic Directors and Graphic Designer to create cohesive artwork, taglines, social media templates, and media kits for each production.
- Assist in development of brand guidelines, and make sure standards are met on all outgoing communications and marketing materials.
- Manage social media presence, which currently includes Facebook and Instagram. Would like to develop LinkedIn and TikTok.
- Understand, follow and stay current on social media best practices and trends; make recommendations for changes.
- Create, manage, and update social media calendar to keep all marketing efforts on track and completed in a timely fashion.
- Work with Co-Artistic Directors and Board of Directors to create an annual budget for all marketing purposes including printed materials, mailing, print and digital media, softwares, and other needs.
- Manage email blasts including monthly newsletter, show-specific emails, audition notices, and any other mass communications.
- Maintain website and make sure all content and information is correct and up-to-date.
- Lead efforts on audience development, community engagement and revenue growth.
- Work with Graphic Designer to create all relevant designs and artwork.
- Help maintain database of patrons and donors for mailing projects: season postcards, annual campaign letters, etc.
- Coordinate group sales campaigns; book, reserve and invoice group sales.
- Assist in the writing and distribution of press releases.
- Establish relationships with local reviewers and press and coordinate press tickets, news appearances, preview stories, and other PR.
- Lead effort on creation of printed program for each production including collecting headshots and bios, copy from production team, advertisements, and artwork.
- Additional responsibilities assigned as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum two years of academic or professional experience in marketing, public relations, social media, or journalism.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge and mastery of social media platforms.
- Adept at working independently as well as collaboratively in teams.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects on deadline.
- Strategic thinker who is proactive, positive and detail oriented.
- Excellent people skills, enthusiastic and interested in the arts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva Pro, ArtsPeople, Google Suite, and SquareSpace a plus.
Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn new skills.
POSITION DETAILS
Part Time (6-8 hours per week), flexible schedule, ability to work hybrid OR fully remote (preference will be given to candidates in the Greater Milwaukee and Greater Chicago areas, but other locations will be considered.)
SALARY
$20-$22 per hour based on experience.
STARTING DATE
As soon as possible.
